Steve asked a valid question in his blog about why do people work on Debian. It got me thinking about my involvement on debian.
Even though i've been mostly inactive for quite some time, i've always felt an obligation to work on Debian. It's not like being forced to work on, but more like wanting to contribute back. So to list my reasons to work on Debian:
- I'm a lazy coder, so i never get any real coding done. Packaging duties are more down my alley.
- I like helping others. As a Debian maintainer i get to help a lot of people at once.
All in all, it's like a payback to the people that make my life easier.
